A summary of week 1
Week 1 was a massive success, thanks to Kip and Ash! It was great to see people’s faces and write together after so long. I’m slightly awkward as a host, but alas.
Prompt:
shape a character (a concept? a notion? a thing?) from two perspectives: one of a nemesis's and the other of an inseparable ally's; i.e. a positive and a negative perspective. (you could interpret this in any way; do give a rough definition of what your concepts of "nemesis" and "ally" are)
this could be in any form you wish; it could be roughly two parts, but in no way do you need to adhere to that.
do write about/draw/collage/compose the character etc. as you wish.
Products from the session
my piece:
a chronicle, or a fragment
(i)
I've been here since the very beginning. This jail cell of calcium scaffolding, with flesh as concrete; so naturally I take its side, no matter what unbearable malice I sense from it. I migrate as it migrates (not that I am left with any other choice.) - mindlessly following.
(ii)
a mirror image is one to sneer at; or so i was never taught. i only allowed the image to exhibit contempt to me, at the sacrifice of my own sanity. it's not that i can't resent the reflection - in fact, i might just destroy it at the first possible opportunity -
the image is everywhere - it was never the mirror, it was me.
(both the nemesis and the ally are the narrator)
+ a mouse drawing done in Krita to go with the prompt (just me goofing around, really)
Kip’s piece: from the perspective of a character’s sister, reincarnated as a cat to spend eternity in the void with the character.
promise
heartbeat to my heartbeats
warmth matching warmth
stuck in endless dreams
I’m not leaving you ever – promise I’m never leaving you
even if you don’t remember me, can’t see me
never again, promise
I know you sleep and I’m different now but I’m here
I’m here
I’m here
Ash wrote a poem inspired by allergies:
the bluebird or pigeon flaps it's wings
movement crinkly like paper
see the almond as the god's nectar
the ambrosia of nature
going slowly down the small tube
bird throat easily snapped
hard to keep soft
and
i see the almond as a bullet swallowed
because like a bluebird's fragility
and mechanical conspiracies
i am dramatic
(Thank you for reading this far! here’s Kip’s doodle of my dog as a thank you)
